Welcome David Simon-Vermot, our new Trainee for Education

On 1 February, David Simon-Vermot will start a six-month traineeship at SwissCore.

David finished his master’s degree in environmental engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). Alongside his studies, he worked as teaching assistant and as student representative. Those experiences led him to have a better understanding of the higher education field and its actors.

After a first short exchange at school level, he spent a mobility year in Brazil during his bachelor studies, where he further developed his intercultural understanding. After coming back, he decided to help international students integrate into life in Switzerland and became a volunteer for the student organisation Erasmus Student Network (ESN). During his involvement, David discovered the diversity of the mobility programmes in Europe from a perspective outside of the Erasmus+ framework. He became the Education Officer for ESN Switzerland and is involved in improving mobility policies in Switzerland. These experiences have sparked his interest in international cooperation, and he is looking forward to learning more about its impact on Swiss education and training.

During his time at SwissCore, he will support the European Advisor for Education in day-to-day activities and will also focus on a dedicated project.
