What we do

SwissCore is the Swiss information and liaison office for European policies and programmes in research, innovation and education (ERI), located in Brussels. The office acts as a bridge between Swiss government agencies and national ERI institutions and their European counterparts, and supports Swiss participation in European education, research and innovation programmes.

SwissCore is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and Innosuisse, the Swiss innovation agency (for details see the Funders and Partners page).

The office’s activities include

  • informing funders, partners and targeted stakeholders on ongoing and expected developments in European ERI policies and programmes. SwissCore publishes the free monthly newsletter Synopsis;
  • liaising between Europe and Switzerland in ERI policy and programmes by connecting Swiss and EU ERI communities, giving presentations on European ERI developments, and participating in and (co-) organising meetings and events;
  • supporting Swiss participation in European ERI programmes and policy making, by representing our funders in governance and policy bodies, providing brokerage and strategic advice, organising visits to Brussels, offering traineeships, office facilities, and specialised trainings;
  • promoting the Swiss actors in research, innovation and education at European level by highlighting Swiss-EU ERI collaboration through events and other communication channels.

SwissCore’s partners in Switzerland are Euresearch for research and innovation, Movetia for education, and swissuniversities for all three ERI fields. SwissCore is a member of the Informal Group of RTD Liaison Offices (IGLO).
