Welcome to our new trainees, Manon Camous and Lucia Leoni

On Monday 1 February, Manon Camus and Lucia Leoni will start a student traineeship at SwissCore for a period of six months.

Manon is finishing her Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne (EPFL), with a minor in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship.

Having worked in industrial research and development, Manon now wishes to explore new aspects and challenges of research, innovation and collaboration thanks to this traineeship. On top of supporting the daily office activities and following digital policy developments, Manon will work on a dedicated research project focusing on sustainable manufacturing policies and programmes and the new synergies that will arise from Horizon Europe. Manon hopes to add a different view by contributing her engineering education perspective.

Lucia is about to graduate as a master’s student in Modern and Contemporary History and English at the University of Fribourg. As a bilingual Italian and English speaker and with the experience of a semester abroad in Paris during her bachelor’s degree, Lucia will certainly adapt well to the international environment of Brussels’ European Quarter.

Along her studies, Lucia has developed a keen interest in the education field thanks to her extracurricular engagement in the student association Erasmus Student Network. As the national representative of the Swiss national board, she engages frequently in international discussions about education policies and mobility programmes. During her time at SwissCore, she will help the European Advisor for Education in day-to-day activities and will additionally focus on developments in digital education.
