Goodbye to our Trainees Annina and Andrina

At the end of February 2024 Annina (Trainee for Innovation) and Andrina (Trainee for Research) will conclude their 6 months traineeship at SwissCore.

Incredibly fast, these months at SwissCore have come to an end, so it is time to say goodbye to our trainees Annina and Andrina. During the last weeks and months, they experienced the Brussels bubble up close. By supporting our team, they did not only deepen their knowledge about the functioning and structure of the European Union, but they also worked together with our most valued partners in the Research, Education and Innovation Community, such as IGLO (Informal Group of RTD Liaison Offices). Both got to dive into the research funding and innovation landscape of the European Union. By attending conferences, meetings, and events on the most diverse topics, they gained insights into the EU research, innovation and education programmes and policies.

“When I started my traineeship in September 2023, I just finished my Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs at the University of St. Gallen. As trainee for research, I mainly focused on the European partnerships under the EU research & innovation programme Horizon Europe and continued the work of Janik Mutter and Jule Mau. Further, I also followed the developments of the European Chips Act and specifically the Chips JU. I specifically enjoyed tracking ongoing developments and events in Brussels, and writing Synopsis articles including a success story about Newlife. My experience at SwissCore has been very enriching as I delved into EU research policy topics. The knowledge gained from my tasks and interactions with the team has been invaluable, and I am grateful to the entire team for creating such a welcoming environment during my time here.” – Andrina Wyttenbach

“These six months working at SwissCore have been extremely enriching for me. After having finished my bachelor’s degree in law and economics, this was an opportunity for me to delve into new territory by getting to know the EU’s innovation landscape. The complexity of it has been a challenge I was happy to take on, being able to learn something new every day. Specifically, I covered the EU’s digital policy and programmes, discovering their respective relevance for the research, innovation, and education community. For this, I finished a digital overview report, describing all the different policies, programmes and initiatives in the digital domain that are of importance. Monitoring the developments on the AI Act, upcoming and existing guidelines for the use of AI in research and covering numerous events with engaging discussions in the field also made up for a large part of my traineeship project. For me, some of the highlights were our SwissCore events, such as the education seminar and the R&I seminar, providing an invaluable exchange platform. Last but not least, the SwissCore team has been remarkable at supporting our daily work as well as sharing good laughs during our lunch breaks.” – Annina Oberholzer

We express our gratitude to Annina and Andrina for their dedication, motivation, and inspiration during their traineeships. The support they provided throughout our daily activities, events, and their committed trainee projects has been a great help for SwissCore’s operations in recent months. We extend our best wishes to them and hope for great success in their future professional endeavours.
