Goodbye Manon!

After six months, SwissCore bids farewell to Manon, Trainee for Research.

After six months of mainly remote work, I will be leaving SwissCore and Brussels at the end of July. I will depart with a sad heart, as these few months have been full of beautiful encounters and great learning.

During my time at SwissCore, I supported Rahel Byland the advisor for research in covering the research agenda. I particularly followed the AI dossier and the last preparations for the Digital Europe Programme. In parallel, I wrote my Master’s thesis studying how European policies and programmes influence the development of sustainable manufacturing in Switzerland. With my background as an (almost) mechanical engineer, it was especially interesting for me to understand, how such a technical topic interlinks with policy. I will be defending this thesis at EPFL at the end of August before graduating.

I would like to thank the whole SwissCore team for making me feel welcome in spite of working from home, and for equipping me with the necessary knowledge to follow the different topics. I would also like to thank Rahel and Simon for giving an engineering student the opportunity to try out policy. I hope that more scientists and engineers will get interested in this topic in the future, to link the two worlds better. Finally, I would like to thank Rahel for her support and supervision of my thesis work. She has been an amazing advisor.

I wish all the best to the SwissCore team in the future, and hope to see you all again in rainy Brussels!df
