Goodbye Julia!

After five months, SwissCore bids farewell to Julia, Trainee for Research.

Julia joined SwissCore in September, following the successful completion of her Bachelor’s degree in International Relations at the University of Geneva. She came to Brussels as Trainee for Research to deepen her knowledge on European Research policies, as well as experience the intricacies of Swiss-EU relations first hand. During her time with SwissCore, Julia followed Europe’s digital policies and programmes closely, in particular the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Digital Europe programme. In addition to writing articles and keeping Swiss stakeholders informed on digital policies, Julia conducted interviews with different stakeholders of the Digital Europe Programme to get a better sense of how the upcoming programme will work. Julia also helped produce success stories for the monthly Synopsis newsletter, as well as assisting with (online) events and presentations. At the end of her traineeship, she authored an updated report on the EU’s AI policy, as well as a joint report on the Digital Europe Programme, together with the Swiss Mission to the EU.

Shortly after Julia arrived in September together with Florian, Trainee for Innovation, the office had to go back to working remotely due to the Coronavirus pandemic worsening again in Belgium. But, despite the challenging circumstances, Julia remained positive and kept up her work. She will now start a new challenge as intern at the Swiss Mission to the European Union, where she will continue working on research and digital policy, albeit from a different perspective. Since she will be remaining in Brussels for another six months, we hope she will have the one or the other opportunity to stop by the SwissCore office. We wish her all the best for her future and look forward to the continued collaboration.
