Welcome to our new trainee for innovation, Selina Hänni

On 1 September, Selina Hänni will start a student traineeship at SwissCore for six months.

Selina holds a Master of Arts in European Global Studies from the University of Basel, and interdisciplinary degree combining politics, economics, history and law.

Having worked at the Swiss Federal Railways as an innovation intern, Selina has developed a keen interest in innovation, which will be her core focus during her traineeship at SwissCore. As a former elected councellor of a Swiss town, serving as the head of the department for education, family and youth politics there, Selina familiarised herself with the many facets of policy making. Additionally, as a student assistant at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, she has supported research into topics such as digitalisation and location promotion.

During Selina’s time at SwissCore, she will support the Senior European Advisor for Innovation in day-to-day activities, and follow the developments in European innovation support programmes and policies. A key priority among her tasks will involve supporting the swissuniversities presidency of UAS4EUROPE, the European alliance of Universities of Applied Sciences as it develops key policy platforms related to innovation ecosystems and sustainable development goals. More broadly, Selina will also contribute to SwissCore activities covering education and research policies at the European level.
