After ten months at SwissCore, we say farewell to Lucia Leoni, first trainee and then European Advisor for Education.
A little more than a year ago, I received the call that I had been selected as Trainee for Education at SwissCore. Now, a year later I am bidding farewell to a wonderful team of people as well as all the partners and stakeholders related to the field of European Education.
During my time at SwissCore, I first supported Rahel Gruber, the previous European Advisor for Education, in covering the European education agenda, in keeping Swiss stakeholders informed on education policies and writing SwissCore success stories and articles. In addition, I focused on the digital education dossier, for which I produced three factsheets, one in collaboration with Movetia. Then, from September to December I was promoted to European Advisor for Education to help the transition between Rahel Gruber and Laurin Reding, our new Advisor for Education. During this time, I was the main point of contact for Swiss and European education stakeholders and partners at SwissCore. This position seemed daunting initially, but I soon learned that traineeships at SwissCore truly prepare individuals for the future and I was able to tackle the tasks confidently and to the best of my abilities.
I would like to thank the whole SwissCore team for making me feel welcome, despite the first months of 2021 being mostly from home and the last months from Switzerland. I would like to thank Simon and Rahel for giving a history student with a passion for education policies a chance and the entire SwissCore team for supporting me during these last few months as advisor. I want to especially thank Rahel for being a great supervisor and I want to wish all my best to Laurin who is already doing an amazing job. From October, I have reentered the academic world by starting a PhD at the Basel Graduate School of History (BGSH), on the development and history of film festivals in Switzerland after 1965.
I wish all the best to the SwissCore team and hope to see you again, whether in Brussels or Basel!
