SUMMARY:Innovation Briefing on ‘Igniting the potential of Swiss and European Deep Tech Start-ups & Scale-ups'
DESCRIPTION:This event was jointly organised by the Mission of Switzerland to the EU\, Innovation Norway and SwissCore. \n\n\n\nFormer Italian prime minister Mario Draghi highlighted in his recently published report on the Future of European Competitiveness that the EU must close the innovation gap and unleash its full potential to support breakthrough innovations. A significant challenge for promising companies remains to find capital for larger rounds of investments in Europe. They thus often turn to foreign investors. The European Innovation Council (EIC) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) are working hand-in-hand to address these issues\, but more efforts will be needed to become competitive. \n\n\n\nDuring this event\, we dove into solutions how the EIB – together with the EIC – is addressing the scale-up gap\, we heard from start-ups who went through this “growth journey” and discussed how to build trust among the EIC\, venture capitalists and other institutional investors such as pension funds to crowd-in private investments into R&I. \n\n\n\nProgramme: here \n\n\n\nEvent summary: here \n\n\n\nSlides: here
