Various programmes and initiatives have been established on EU level in order to fill the gap between knowledge creation and the transformation of R&D results into marketable and innovative products and services.
Support for innovation is provided through financial instruments targeting SMEs, but also through other forms of innovation support services, whereas Eco-innovation is of particular interest. Cooperation and learning among policy makers as well as mutual learning among innovation professionals is fostered by special initiatives and partnership platforms.
